Checklist: Planning for and Moving into Student Housing Apartments

Use the following checklist to prepare to move in to Student Housing Apartments. Be sure to read the entire checklist: some items should be considered quickly, others in the days before moving.

Planning for the Move

  • Check your UC Davis email (check it daily)
  • Watch for last-minute announcements
  • Decide what to bring (and coordinate with your apartment mate(s))
  • Download, read and/or print the "Moving In" map for your SHA location
  • See the Student Housing Calendar for holidays, closures, and deadlines
  • NOTE: please cancel your contract if you no longer plan to live in Student Housing Apartments

Get Your Housing Assignment

  • Log into MyUCDavis and make note of your Housing Assignment, including your apartment mate(s) contact information (assignments available in late August)
  • Refer to the move-in map for your SHA location to learn how to get here, and where to park your vehicle to unload

Coordinate With Your Apartment Mate(s)

  • Arrival times for move-in day
  • What each apartment mate will bring (television, printer, etc.)
  • Establishing optional phone service

After Moving In

  • Complete an online Room Condition form by September 25, 2015
  • License your bicycle at Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) - it's the law and a university requirement
  • Read all of the information you received when checking in to your apartment
  • Make any final changes to your meal plan for fall quarter, if necessary, at MyUCDavis
    • Refer to the Student Housing Calendar for meal change deadlines (the fall deadline tends to be immediately after move-in weekend)
  • Attend Fall Welcome and "Welcome Week" events; to learn more, visit the Fall Welcome website and view the calendar events details
  • Check out the Diversity Calendar to learn more about the diversity of our student body
