The Resident Garden @ Segundo

About the Resident Garden @ Segundo

The student-run Resident Garden @ Segundo is where residents of Cuarto, Tercero and Segundo get to experience hands-on gardening. The garden was established in 2011 through a partnership of Student Housing and Dining Services and ASUCD Campus Center for the Environment.

There are five raised beds where onā€campus residents can learn about edible and non-edible plants, how they are grown and cared for, and how they can be prepared. The garden is maintained by a part-time student Resident Garden Coordinator, with the support of sustainability interns and volunteers.

Get Involved

No prior gardening experience or materials are necessary to get involved at the Resident Garden @ Segundo. Come grow with us!

Open Volunteer Hours

Residents can attend open volunteer hours hosted weekly by the Resident Garden Coordinator. During open volunteer hours, residents can assist with weeding, watering, harvesting, or other garden tasks.

Open volunteer hours are updated quarterly. Check the A-frame in the garden for posted hours or email sustainablehousing@ucdavis.edu for more info.

Adopt-a-Plot

Residents can also adopt a plot in the garden for one quarter or longer to steward their own garden space. Adopt-a-plotters will have access to materials and mentorship. For more info and to apply, email sustainablehousing@ucdavis.edu.

Attend Programs

Resident Garden programs are hosted quarterly where residents can learn more about gardening topics and sustainability. To learn about upcoming events, sign up for the weekly sustainability and nutrition newsletter.
