moobilenetx replaces ResNetX after December 2014
Over the winter break, Communications Resources will be retiring the SSID resnetx, which only appears in Residence Halls, and replacing it with the campuswide moobilenetx. All other SSIDs will remain the same. Communications Resources is instituting this change as a first step at consolidating wireless services throughout the campus. The hope is this small adjustment will improve services and make the wireless networking experience more seamless on campus. For information on configuring a device to use moobilenetx, please visit wireless.ucdavis.edu.
Should you have any questions, when you return from break, feel free to contact IT Express at email@example.com, or 530-754-HELP(4357).
Windows XP - Important Announcement
Microsoft ended support for its 12+ year old Windows XP operating system on April 8, 2014. As an unsupported OS, Windows XP represents a significant security risk.
To mitigate this risk, beginning on June 25, 2014 UC Davis will no longer allow computers running Windows XP to access campus networks, including Resnet and ResnetX, or to log in to campus systems.
Computer users running Windows XP should upgrade their operating system as soon as possible to protect themselves and to continue to access UC Davis networks and applications.
