Moving Out of the Residence Halls
Move-out instructions vary based upon whether a student is moving out at the end of their contract or during the contact. Information for both scenerios are listed below; refer to the appropriate one.
End of Contract (end of spring quarter 2009)
The residence hall contract states students must completely move out within 24 hours of their last final but no later than 7pm on Thursday, June 11, 2009, whichever comes first.

Please review all information regarding checking out of the residence halls; follow all check out instructions to avoid charges including a $75.00 improper check out fee
- Complete a Change of Address Card and return to the Area Service Desk
- The last mail delivery will be Thursday, June 11; all mail remaining in mailboxes after 7pm on June 11 will be forwarded to summer address
- Donate unwanted clothing, non-perishable food, linens, electronics, and house wares during the Resource Recovery Drive; look for donation locations in or near each residence hall; donation bags are available at the Area Service Desk
- Clean room and suite (if applicable); remove and properly dispose of all trash; trash bags are available at the Area Service Desk
- De-loft/debunk beds and put extra parts in closet; return bed ladder (if applicable); move furniture to original position; NOTE: students in triple occupancy rooms should leave beds lofted and bunked
- Consider using the Door to Door Summer Storage program to store personal items throughout the summer
- Take bicycles home or arrange for summer storage with TAPS
- Close blinds/drapes and lock windows; turn off air conditioning
- Close and lock room and suite (if applicable) door
- Return the brown check out envelope with room key (if applicable) and laundry card to the Area Service Desk

Before End of Contract (during academic year)
- students must qualify to be released from their contract; review the cancellation process for guidelines
- students who are transferring or withdrawing from the university or are participating in the Planned Educational Leave Program (PELP) must move out within one week of completing their paperwork with the Registrar's Office; students must complete their paperwork with the Registrar's Office before they can cancel their contract
- students must meet with the Student Housing Contract Representative to cancel their contract
- a room inspection must be completed with an RA or Student Housing staff member before moving out; contact the Area Service Desk to schedule an appointment
- contact the Student Housing Contract Representative with any questions
