Freshman Housing Guarantee
All incoming fall quarter freshman students are guaranteed housing* in the residence halls for their first year provided they are registered as a full time student, are under the age of 24 and meet all Student Housing and university deadlines.
Students entering the university in winter or spring quarter should contact Student Housing to inquire about their housing options.
Second year housing is generally available; but is dependent on first year student enrollment and will be offered if available. Notification of availability will be provided during winter quarter of each year.
Although some second-year students want to take advantage of another year of living in UC Davis Student Housing, the UC Davis tradition is that most students choose to live off campus for their second year. To assist with the transition to community housing, Student Housing hosts programs during fall and winter quarter to help residence hall students prepare to seek housing in the Davis community. Programs discuss how, where, and when to search for housing, and teach students how to understand rental agreements.
For the Freshman Housing Guarantee for students who entered UC Davis in fall 2015, see the Freshman Housing Guarantee for Fall 2015 webpage.
*Housing is defined as a single bed, and related shared and personal space in a bedroom or suite, for an individual student. Guaranteed spaces are located in the residence halls. Families are not eligible to live in the residence halls; students who wish to live with their families should consider applying to live at Solano Park, Russell Park, or housing in the Davis community.
