Prospective Dietetic Interns

Complete your Food Service Management Rotation with UC Davis Dining Services!

Congratulations on beginning your path towards becoming a Registered Dietitian! UC Davis Dining Services offers hands-on experience for dietetic interns seeking to complete their internship program's food service management requirements. We happily work with many interns who are part of distance dietetic internships.

Opportunities

Under the guidance of our Registered Dietitian, dietetic interns may have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in the menu planning process
  • Assess nutrition of menu items using menu analysis software
  • Provide support and counseling to student residents with dietary restrictions
  • Learn food safety protocols and implement practices to maintain food safety
  • Develop educational materials and outreach events for first-year students

Qualifications

Prospective dietetic interns must have already been accepted into an ACEND-accredited program in order to qualify. Please note that we are only able to accommodate 2-3 interns per academic year.

Your ACEND-accredited dietetic internship program must have an active Affiliation Agreement with UC Davis Dining Services. If your program does not already have an active Affiliation Agreement with our organization, you will be required to additionally provide a blank copy of your program's Affiliation Agreement upon acceptance to our food service management rotation. Please note that coordination of the agreement may take several weeks to process, so it is highly advised that you apply as soon as possible.

How to Apply

Due to the high volume of inquiries, it is recommended that you fill out our interest form. The interest form includes areas to submit

  1. Your resume
  2. An original writing sample
  3. Your DI program's requirements

Following completion of the interest form, the RDN may reach out via email to gather additional information and/or schedule a brief phone interview.

On behalf of UC Davis Dining Services, we wish you all the best as you embark on your journey to become a Registered Dietitian! For more information on this process, please visit www.EatRightPro.org.
