Application Process

  • Submit an application online
    • You will be able to indicate needs and preferences for unit size and move in dates
  • Send the $20 non-refundable application fee (must be a check or money order made payable to UC REGENTS) to:

  • Prospective residents will be added to the waitlist once both the application and $20 non-refundable application fee are received
  • Applicants will be notified if an apartment becomes available
    • Housing is not guaranteed

Priority Groups and Eligibility

The following groups are eligible for Family and Graduate Housing with Student Housing and Dining Services (SHDS), and apartment offers are prioritized in the following order:

  • Students with Children
  • Students in a Marriage or Domestic Partnership
  • Single Graduate Students

Lease Offers

Applicants on the waitlist will be emailed when their preferred unit size becomes available at any point during the desired move-in quarter indicated on their application. Applicants will have 2 business days to respond to an offer.

If the offer is accepted, a lease signing appointment with all adult occupants will occur within 2 weeks. The security deposit and first month's rent are due by the scheduled lease signing appointment.

Applicants may receive up to 2 apartment offers. If the first offer is declined, they may remain on the waitlist until another unit preference becomes available. If the second offer is declined, they will be removed from the waitlist and must reapply if they resume interest in living in SHDS Family and Graduate Housing. If SHDS cannot offer a lease during the applicant's desired quarter, we will email to confirm if they would like to remain on the waitlist for the following quarter.

When to Apply

Incoming and current UC Davis students may apply for an apartment any time.

Prospective students are welcome to apply prior to being enrolled but must be enrolled as full-time UC Davis students when the lease term begins.

SHDS Family and Graduate Housing—Looking Forward

We are excited to expand housing options for students with families and graduate students to support all students pursuing a degree at UC Davis. We look forward the future development of Orchard Park and opening Primero Grove to families and single graduate students by Fall of 2022.

New beginnings are often accompanied by endings. Since January 2020, we have shared with Solano Park residents that the southern part of Solano Park will close following the summer of 2022. All lease agreements for Solano Park-South units will end July 31, 2022, with no option to renew.

We hope that this information is helpful to you in making the best possible decisions for yourself in planning your time at UC Davis. Please proceed to the application if you are still interested in being added to the waitlist for Solano Park, or you wish to express interest in Primero Grove.
