What To Bring

All rooms at The Green are furnished with a bed, desk, dresser, chair and landfill, recycling and compost collection bins. The shared living spaces have living room seating with end tables and a dining table with chairs or built in dining countertop with seating provided.

Consider buying used when possible.

  • Face coverings (disposable are okay but we recommend seven or more washable/reusable)
  • Hand sanitizer and sanitation/disinfectant wipes
  • Thermometer
  • Picnic blanket
  • Portable outdoor chair
  • Coat hangers
  • Bedding: sheets, pillows and pillowcases, mattress pad, comforter and/or bedspread, blankets
  • Washcloths and towels
  • Toiletries
  • Toothbrush cover
  • Shower caddy
  • Alarm clock (preferably with a battery back-up in case of power outages)
  • TV, radio, video and music players, video games, movies and music, other electronic entertainment; Energy Star rated is preferred
  • Headphones/ear buds with a microphone for video conferencing/calls
  • Computer
  • Computer cable lock to secure computer to your desk
  • External keyboard and mouse (if you use a laptop) (*using an external keyboard and mouse can greatly improve ergonomics)
  • 25 foot Ethernet Cable (for wired connections)
    • Note: students do not need to bring wireless routers
  • Printer and extra ink cartridges (Energy Star rated is preferred) (Note: printing is available in the residence halls and other campus locations for a fee.)
  • Computer needs, such as a smart power strip, flash drive, mousepad, small screwdriver
  • First aid kit
  • Flashlight
  • Bicycle, bicycle helmet, bicycle lock, light for nighttime riding, and basic tools
  • Laundry supplies, iron, laundry bag or basket
  • Health insurance card and other forms of identification (e.g., driver's license)
  • Eye masks, ear plugs, and white noise machines (to help with sleeping)

Apartment Items

We suggest coordinating the following items with your new roommate(s) in order to minimize unnecessary duplication.

    • Small appliances (microwave provided at all properties except Primero Grove)

    • Storage containers
    • Dish soap, dishwasher detergent

  • Bathroom items:
    • Shower curtain and rings (rod is included)
    • Bathroom rug
    • Bathroom trash can
    • Bathroom tissue paper
    • Toilet plungers
  • Cleaning supplies: look for products that are Green Seal certified, EPA Safer Choice or ECOLOGO certified
    • Glass/counter cleaner
    • Toilet cleaner, toilet brush
    • Mop
    • Broom and dustpan
    • Vacuum
    • Duster
    • Trash bags and kitchen compost liners

What Not To Bring

  • 3D Printers and Lasers
    3D printers, lasers and related crafting devices are not to be used within any residential building; in addition to the potential risk of fire, noxious chemicals and smoke will cause additional risks
  • Appliances that are not UL-approved
  • Torchiere halogen lamps
  • Candles
  • Space heaters
  • Weapons of any kind, including decorative swords and paintball guns
  • Fireworks, firecrackers, flammable liquids and other explosive or incendiary devices
  • Items that are illegal to possess
  • Computers running Windows 8 and earlier, or Mac OS X (macOS) 10.12 and earlier
