About Orchard Park

Orchard Park is located on the northwest corner of the UC Davis campus, on a 19-acre site off Russell Blvd. It is comprised of 11 4-story residential buildings and two community buildings. The community buildings provide residents with fitness rooms and study/meeting spaces. Orchard Park also features open outdoor space, a tot lot, and a network of bike/pedestrian paths. Parking will be offered in two surface parking lots — one lot adjacent to the residential buildings and one lot over a bike/ped bridge immediately to the west — as well as on-street parking. Units in the project include studios, 2-bedroom, and 4-bedroom units ranging in size from 350 to 1,150 square feet.

Building Namesake

Primero Complex

Primero Complex

This c. 1959 aerial view shows the Primero Complex of student dormitories formerly located southwest of Russell Blvd and California Ave. Built between 1951 and 1959, they were the first University-built, on-campus dormitories in the entire UC System. When completed, they were named for four long-time faculty members (Charles M. Titus, Louise C. Struve, Elmer H. Hughes, and Samuel H. Beckett) who took special interest in students. In 1997, these dorms were removed and replaced in 1999 by a new complex of four, three-story apartment buildings, which housed married students and transfers. Today, Primero Grove is being used by UC Davis Student Housing and Dining Services to house Students with Families and Single Graduate Students.

Orchard Park Apartments is owned by CHF-Davis II, LLC, a private non-profit housing enterprise. CHF-Davis II, LLC is neither owned nor controlled by the University of California. UC Davis Student Housing and Dining Services is acting as the agent of the owner.
