Our everyday actions create a lot of waste. But, it doesn’t have to. Together, we can make UC Davis a zero waste campus. Join us as we aim to send as little waste to the landfill as possible. Ask yourself: could your next piece of trash be #MyLastTrash?

- Recycle or compost or repurpose what you can’t refuse or reuse

Going zero waste isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about examining your relationship to waste and making a change in a way that works best for you! Follow these tips to save resources, fight climate change, and say no to single-use disposables.

Commit to eating what you take and make it #MyCleanPlate.
- Take only what you plan to eat
- In the DCs
- ‘Just Ask’ to customize a meal to your liking
- ‘Try a Taste’ of a meal before committing to an entire plate
- Love your leftovers
- What you don’t eat, compost!

Fill up your bottle, not the landfill. Choose a reusable cup and make it #MyLastCup.
- Use a reusable water bottle at the water refill stations
- Bring a reusable beverage container when you a purchase a drink to go on campus, if able
- Pro-tip: Some dining locations offer a small discount for bringing your own beverage container
- If purchasing a beverage in a single-use container, opt for containers made of aluminum or glass in lieu or plastic or plastic lined paper to-go cups

If you come to a fork in the road, reuse it! Choose reusable utensils and make it #MyLastFork.
- Refuse single-use utensils when eating on campus or when ordering take-out
- Choose to use reusable utensils (spoon, fork, knife, and chopsticks)
- Keep a set of reusable utensils in your res hall room and backpack so you’re always ready to choose reusables

Be a napKING. Choose reusable a napkin and make it #MyLastNapkin.
- Use a reusable napkin when dining in the DCs, if able
- If using single-use napkins, only take one napkin at a time
- Use a reusable hand towel to dry your hands
#MyLastStraw
Don’t be a sucker for single-use straws. Choose a reusable straw and make it #MyLastStraw.
- Refuse single-use straws, if able
- Keep a reusable straw and straw cleaning brush in your backpack

Totes remember your reusable bag. Choose a reusable bag and make it #MyLastBag.
- Use a reusable bag when shopping at grocery stores and other retail stores
- If you forget your reusable bag, opt for paper over plastic
