Antivirus Software

Antivirus software is an essential tool for protecting computers from malicious software. Viruses can delete files, allow hackers to install additional software to and take remote control of computers, and cause computers to malfunction and crash.

UC Davis requires all computers connecting to university networks to run anti-virus software. Many computers ship with antivirus software, but for those who need to acquire it, free anti-virus software packages are available from a number of major vendors. The University does not endorse any antivirus product over another.
